Holder of an enormous diversity of nesting birds, including an endemic species, the Monteiro Storm-breather (Oceanodroma monteiroi), which only nests here, is an important nesting habitat for seabirds and also serves as a resting area / passage of migratory birds. Here you can find the Cory’s Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea borealis), the Pink Tern (Sterna dougallii), the Common Tern (Sterna hirundo), the Berry Screech (Puffinus baroli baroli) and the Madeira Warbler (Oceanodroma castro).
